- Began viola studies at the age of 12 in Boston and continued as a student of Guarneri Quartet violist Michal Tree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
- Graduated with a degree in Archeology from Yale University in 1995 where he also studied Greek and Latin Literature.
- Before joining the Miró Quartet, performed with the Colorado String Quartet and served as principal violist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina.
- Has participated in excavations in Greece, Israel, and Jordan in addition to pursuing studies at the Hebrew University in Israel.
- John enjoys cooking gourmet cuisine, particularly French pastry and fine desserts; luckily, he also enjoys exercising.
