Began viola studies at the age of 12 in Boston and continued as a student of Guarneri Quartet violist Michal Tree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Graduated with a degree in Archeology from Yale University in 1995 where he also studied Greek and Latin Literature. Before joining the Miró Quartet, performed with the Colorado String Quartet and served as principal violist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina. Has participated in excavations in Greece, Israel, and Jordan in addition to pursuing studies at the Hebrew University in Israel. John enjoys cooking gourmet cuisine, particularly French pastry and fine desserts; luckily, he also enjoys exercising.
